Onchain strategies blending real-world assets (RWAs) and DeFi, built on the risk framework of CoinShares, a regulated and Nasdaq-listed asset manager, are now available to fintechs and private allocators.

CoinShares, Europe's largest digital asset manager, listed on Nasdaq, regulated under AIFMD, MiFID II and MiCA, and managing $7B+ in assets, built its onchain yield strategies on Railnet. Safe{Wallet} is the first to bring them to its users. Safe is the self-custody account layer that secures over $60B for onchain institutions and treasuries.

CoinShares' real-world asset strategies hold tokenised treasuries directly and pass through the treasury yield itself, rather than a lending rate derived from it. Onchain, stable yield from real-world assets has been hard to access, while the alternatives, mostly DeFi lending rates, move with market conditions.

The strategies

CoinShares runs all of these on Railnet, grouped into three kinds. Each follows a defined mandate, rebalances weekly, and holds no leverage and no recursive lending.

Real-world asset income. Tokenised treasuries and short-duration government bond exposure.

Investment-grade diversified income. Treasuries, DeFi lending, secured credit and delta-neutral positions. It comes in USDC and in EURC, so euro-denominated capital can earn onchain without taking dollar exposure.

DeFi income. Over-collateralised lending and onchain credit, with no real-world asset exposure.

Each kind comes in more than one form, tuned to how it's accessed and to the risk profile an allocator wants.

These strategies are accessible directly inside Safe{Wallet}, fee-free for the first six months. Safe users can allocate to CoinShares' rule-based, institutional-grade strategies onchain without leaving their existing setup or compromising on security. Permissionless strategies, built on a rules-based risk framework rather than actively managed, are reachable from any wallet.

Why CoinShares chose to build on Railnet

Bringing enterprise-grade strategies onchain requires more than a vault. A single strategy may hold tokenised treasuries, DeFi positions, staked assets and onchain credit at once, across instruments that settle on very different timelines. Most onchain infrastructure handles one of these cases rather than all of them, which has left managers to combine several systems and reconcile the accounting between them.

We wanted to bring institutional-grade strategies onchain without giving up custody or risk oversight. Railnet is the infrastructure that made that possible — it handles the full operational cycle so we can focus on what we do: defining the mandate and owning the risk.

Jean-Marie Mognetti, Co-Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of CoinShares

CoinShares defines the mandate and owns the risk, while Railnet handles execution, accounting and reporting underneath through its vault infrastructure. CoinShares evaluated what this would require and chose to build on Railnet rather than assemble the stack itself, as no other infrastructure handles the full cycle a regulated asset manager requires.

The model has a broader consequence: a platform need not become an asset manager to offer professionally managed yield. CoinShares supplies the mandate and risk framework, Railnet supplies the operational layer, and the platform supplies its users. CoinShares is the first regulated manager to make this choice on Railnet, though the approach is open to others.

We see strong demand for properly risk-managed strategies, and for accessing real-world yield, but existing onchain infrastructure wasn't built for sophisticated asset managers.

We're building the vault infrastructure for top-tier asset managers like CoinShares to address operational gaps in the market. CoinShares built these strategies on Railnet, and Safe chose to bring them to its users – a significant step, given Safe is trusted by the majority of enterprises and onchain operators managing capital at scale.

Laszlo Szabo, CEO and Co-Founder of Railnet

Available now in Safe{Wallet}

Safe{Wallet} secures more than $60B in assets for a large share of onchain institutions, DAO and treasury capital in self-custody, and the assets never leave the user's own account. Users allocate on their own initiative and keep custody throughout, holding a position they can see and redeem. Safe has enabled the permissionless strategies, run on CoinShares' institutional, rule-based risk framework, accessible directly from a user's own account.

CoinShares and Railnet are extending the strategies to fintech platforms building their own earn programs and looking for diversified offerings run by a trusted asset manager.

Safe's role is to give enterprises and onchain organisations secure, programmable control over their assets. This partnership is a strong example of that principle in action: users can access professionally managed stablecoin strategies while keeping assets in their own Safe account. By combining CoinShares' asset management expertise, Railnet's infrastructure, and Safe's account layer, we are helping make institutional-grade onchain finance more accessible without asking users to give up custody.

Rahul Rumalla, CEO of Safe

CoinShares' strategies are available to institutional allocators and fintech platforms.
